Kolbe Schnoebelen is an 11th grade Trombone player from Iowa City High School. Kolbe studies privately with Dr. Jonathon Allen and Austin Seybert and is under the direction of Dr. Myron McReynolds at Iowa City High School.
As a Freshman, Kolbe was selected as an Iowa All State Alternate, he played 2nd Chair in South East Iowa Bandmasters Association Jazz Band, was a 4A All State Jazz Alternate, won the Most Outstanding Musician at Birch Creek Music Center, and played in the City High Wind Ensemble and City High Jazz Ensemble.
As a sophomore, Kolbe was selected to the Iowa All State Orchestra playing 3rd Chair, the SEIBA Jazz Band 1st Chair, 4A All State Jazz 3rd Chair, received the Tall Corn Jazz Festival Outstanding Soloist recognition, the Rolling Meadows Outstanding Soloist recognition, the SEIBA Jazz Outstanding Musician recognition, the Iowa Jazz Champions Outstanding Soloist recognition. He plays in the City High Wind Ensemble (1st Chair), City High Jazz Ensemble (1st Chair), and the City Symphony Orchestra (1st Chair).
As a Junior, Kolbe was selected to the Iowa All State Band (1st Chair), SEIBA Jazz Band (1st Chair), and won the outstanding soloist awards at the Coe College Jazz Summit for 4A as well as Jazz in the Meadows in Chicago class 2A. Kolbe was also selected to the Iowa Bandmasters Association 4A Band and IBA Selected Jazz Band.
His solo selection is “Fantastic Polka” by composer Arthur Pryor.

Samuel Nau is a senior music education major at the University of Northern Iowa where he studies Euphonium with Dr. Jesse Orth. During his time at UNI, Samuel has been a part of the Panther Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Panthers (Bass), Wind Symphony, Wind Ensemble, UNITuba, and several Tuba/Euphonium chamber ensembles. Last spring, Samuel was named UNI’s Presser Scholar in the Junior Presser Scholarship Solo Competition. Samuel has spent his last three summers touring with the Colts and Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, playing baritone and trombone, and performing in venues such as the Alamodome and Lucas Oil Stadium. Samuel plans to student teach in the Spring of 2020 and become a band director.
His solo selection is ” Fantasy” by composer Philip Sparke.
