The Eastern Iowa Brass Band will be perform an exciting patriotic music concert at the Hoover Presidential Library. The performance will be an open air event, so seating is unlimited. The EIBB will perform at the 2016 Freedom Festival in Cedar Rapids on Thursday, June 23rd in the Ballantyne Auditorium on the Kirkwood Community College campus. The band will perform a 30th Anniversary Patriotic Concert for all festival go-er’s FREE WITH A BUTTON! The music and chocolate event invites guests to stroll down Mount Vernon’s historic First Street where participating businesses and chocolate vendors will offer chocolate and chocolate products for sample and/or sale.

- 10AM: Mount Vernon Middle School Band, First Street Community Center Lawn
- 10AM – noon: Kids Games, Memorial Park
11AM: Eastern Iowa Brass Band, First Street Community Center Lawn
- 11:30AM: Deadline for Chocolate Dessert Contest Entries, Old Fire Station
- 11:45AM: Kids and Parents parade to the Bijou (Line up by 11:30AM at the Memorial Park Gazebo)
- Noon: Movie at the Bijou (Willy Wonka & The Chcolate Factory)
- Noon – 2PM: Open Mic/Karaoke at the Gazebo
- 2PM: James Kennedy and Friends, First Street Community Center Lawn
- 2PM – 4PM: Kids Games, Memorial Park
- 3PM: Dale Beeks and Ben Schmidt, First Street Community Center Lawn
The program is packed with exciting and inspirational music from our recent performance at the Paramount Theater in Cedar Rapids.
The concert will include epic pieces such as: “Fragile Oasis” by Peter Meechan, “Fire in the Blood”by Paul Lovatt Cooper, and “Slava!” by Leonard Bernstein. The band will feature several soloists on the concert performing “Over the Rainbow” by Arlen & Harberg, “Manhattan” by Phillip Sparke, and “Benedictus” from ‘The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace’ by Karl Jenkins.
The concert will entertain your entire family so bring the kids!
