Instrument: Cornet, claves
When did you start playing the cornet? I started playing the trumpet in 5th grade and then of course switched to cornet when I joined the band. Apparently trumpet is a dirty word.
When did you begin playing in EIBB: 2003
Family: Husband Lonnie and two boys, Baylor and Brody.
Hometown: Grew up in North Liberty, IA and now resides in Lisbon, IA
Occupation: Stay at home mama and artist, art teacher
Education: Graduated from Iowa City West High then from Cornell College with a BA in secondary education and art.
Hobbies besides EIBB: Running, triathlons, photography, painting, good coffee and chocolate.
Favorite type of brass music: Anything where the cornets are featured right? Hymns and triumphant pieces, along with fast swing tunes….okay, so most everything!
Favorite EIBB moment: There aren’t enough words to describe the types of experiences that one has with the brass band. They are like a huge extended family whom I love dearly and couldn’t imagine being without. If I go into rehearsal in a bad mood, I always leave smiling.
